Buttercup Cottages
      are on the shore, between the historic towns of Mahone Bay and
      Lunenburg, about an hour by road from Halifax, or an hour-and-a-half
      from the airport.  It is two-and-a-half hours from Yarmouth, where
      the ferries from the USA land and an hour-and-a-half from Digby,
      where the ferry from New Brunswick lands.

      
From
      the airport, take Highway 102 south.  Keep right and follow signs for Halifax and Bedford and stay to the right.  Then take exit #3 (Hammond's Plains Road and Bedford) to Highway 103.  Turn left at Hammond's Plains Road when you exit Highway 102.  Follow Hammond's Plains Road for approximately 14 kms.  Passing a mall on your right (Petro Can, Tim Horton's, Dariy Queen) go through two sets of lights and keep to the right.  Turn right after the second set of lights on to Highway 103 (sign says Hubbards and Yarmouth).  


Take Highway 103 to exit #10 and turn right on route #3.  Then continue
      on through Mahone Bay on Route #3 (along the water) towards Lunenburg.
      Turn left on Mader's Cove Road (just outside Mahone Bay, continuing
      along the water). At the first four-way intersection, turn left,
      then turn into the first driveway on the right (410 Herman's
      Island Road).
